Ash may be right, but if I spent enough time I could probably also come up with an elegant explanation for why a springy CB antenna placed in precisely the right location on the back of my car keeps the flow attached and cuts my coefficient of drag in half, and how the attached tennis ball enhances the effect. Sad thing is that some folks would believe it without a shred of proof. Like I say, I'm not saying it's wrong, just that I need proof of some sort before I go cuttin' out bosses. And questionable chassis dyno graphs are not proof.
